A Successful Twist Out Part 2

Hello Everyone,

In my last post I gave you all the information to have a successful twist out. Today, I will explain how to unravel a two-strand twist in order to have an amazing twist out for your mini me. If you follow these simple steps you will achieve amazing results that will last for days at a time. First, you should start by sectioning the hair with a hair clip this will help you manage the hair so that you wont miss any twist. Trust me, its very frustrating trying to figure out if you forgot to unravel a two-strand twist and going back through the hair creating frizz. This process will make things easier for you and it will also reduce the time you spend unraveling the twist.

Next, you want to apply Curly Q Gel-les'c to the ends of each two-strand twist. By doing this, it will help loosen the ends in order for you to easily managed. Also, it will tame any unwanted frizz you may have from the past few days of wearing the two-strand twist. A little goes a long way with this product so you only need a small portion on your finger to apply to the ends of each twist. After you apply the Curly Q Gel-les'c to your little one's tresses, unravel each twist until you're done.

After you finish unraveling the two-strand twist you want to pick out the hair to hide the parts and if you want your child's hair bigger continue to pick his or her hair to your liking. You can start off by picking out the middle and working my way around the perimeter of the hair. Make sure you gently pick out your child's hair, tugging too hard will cause breakage and too much tension to the hair is detrimental to hair growth.

Lastly, style the twist out however you see fit and use Curls Blueberry Edge Control Paste to lay down the edges. If you would like, you can let the hair down with or without a headband. Jaiden wanted the front of her hair in a bun and the rest out. You can also style your child's hair in two pony tails which is one of my favorites for Jaiden. I love styling my child's hair in a twist out because it's easy maintenance. Curly Q's help me achieve this perfect hairstyle in less than ten minutes. I was very satisfied with the results especially because I left Jaiden's two-strand twist in her hair for a week. Curly Q's kept her hair soft throughout the week and it helped me with the process of unraveling her hair.

Thank you for learning more about obtaining a successful twist out for your child. Stay tuned for more reviews and hair tips and feel free to share. You can also learn about the Curly Q's product at www.curls.biz

A successful Twist Out using Curly Q's

*This post is sponsored by Curly Qs. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

A twist out is a great hairstyle for kids, especially little girls. I love to style my daughter Jaiden’s hair in a twist out because I can style her hair in many different ways without a lot of tension. It’s a perfect protective hairstyle that can last for days at a time. My go to hair product for Jaiden’s hair is Curls Curly Q’s curl care for kids. Curls is a great hair product because the ingredients are natural and organic, this ensures that she will get the nourishment needed for her hair to be healthy and long. The steps needed to have a successful twist out using Curls Curly Q’s for kids are as followed:

First, you want to cleanse your child’s hair by using Curls sulfate free shampoo called Curlie Cutie Cleansing Cream that gently cleanses your mini me’s hair. This shampoo provides a nice lather and is infused with Carrot seed oil, Horse Chestnut, Sage Leaf and Arnica Montana Flower Extract. I used this shampoo on Jaiden’s hair and it left her 4a hair feeling soft and it thoroughly cleansed her hair in one wash.

A great follow up to Curlie Cutie Cleansing Cream is the Coconut Dream Conditioner; it’s great for detangling and rehydrating you child’s hair. Also, you can use this conditioner as a co-wash, this will help keep your child’s hair moisturized and strengthen his or her hair shaft. If you’re not familiar with Co-washing here are the simple steps. When I co-wash Jaiden’s hair I first, rinse her hair with warm water and apply the Coconut Dream Conditioner. After I apply the conditioner, I gently massage her scalp and hair with my hands. Then, I section her hair while the conditioner is still in her hair and either finger detangle or comb her hair with a wide toothcomb. Lastly, I rinse her hair out with cold water to minimize frizz in order to close her hair cuticles to seal in the moisture from the conditioner.

After, completing these two steps you can you use a moisturizer and detangler from the Curly Q’s brand. I applied the Curly Q Milkshake on Jaiden’s hair to further moisturize her hair. This product is a lightweight hair lotion made with organic Aloe leaf juice and pure coconut. I noticed that my daughter’s hair remained tangle free and immediately softened as I raked the product in her hair. What’s so amazing about this product is its doesn’t weigh your child’s hair down and it smells good. Then, I follow up with Curly Q Gel-les’c (Jealousy) a curl gel/shine serum to tame any frizz and add more shine to Jaiden’s hair. This gel is very lightweight and it holds curls in place without having a hard coating leaving Jaiden’s hair soft.

When I switched my child’s hair products I noticed the overall growth and health of her hair. It was very difficult for me to find a product and simple hairstyle that can successfully work for her hair type. Curly Q’s has provided quality ingredients that meet the needs of my child’s coarse hair. Also, it has made styling easy for me so that Jaiden has a successful twist out that remains moist throughout the week. Overall, I would personally recommend Curly Q’s to any and everyone for the overall health of your child’s hair and allow you to make hairstyle such as a twist out easy and successful.

Meaningful Memories

The holiday season can bring many families together. This year my family and I decided to take family photos and create many memories together. Each picture represents something of an importance to us this holiday season.

"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." Matthew 18:20

"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." Matthew 18:20

1. Prayer- As a family we pray together daily. By doing this, it helps us grow in our faith. We hold each other accountable by ensuring that we all complete our daily devotion for the day. Our relationship with God is the most important aspect of our lives. We express our gratitude to God during prayer as well as, pray for our family, friends and our nation.

"We love because he first loved us." 1 John 4:19

"We love because he first loved us." 1 John 4:19

2. Love- Spreading love is easy! Make sure you express your love verbally and through actions. My family and I find different ways to confirm our love for one another each day. Below i'll share a few of our ways to help you express your love to someone.

  • Hugs
  • Quick notes
  • Verbal expression
  • Random acts of kindness
  • Surprise gifts
"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." -John 8;36

"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." -John 8;36

3. Living Free- We live a life free from our past. As parents, we teach our daughter that everyone does something they're not proud of, but you can choose to move forward and learn from it. Living free from regrets, pain and mistreatment etc. is essential. We choose to live a life FREE from bondage.

"Children, always obey your parents, for this pleases the Lord." -Colossians 3:20

"Children, always obey your parents, for this pleases the Lord." -Colossians 3:20

Obedience- One method we teach our daughter is obedience. We believe that how our child treats us, she will treat others. By doing this, she has learned to respect authority. In exchange, she understands when you give respect you will receive it.

Thank you for learning about how my family incorporates our beliefs into our family photos! I look forward to your responses.

How to do Finger Coils on natural hair

Are you struggling with styling your hair? I know, I know, you're getting frustrated! Nothing seems to work. Before you decide to throw in the towel and go back to creamy crack, let me help you achieve a beautiful finger coil.

First, section your hair. This will help prevent your hair from getting tangled and it is also more manageable.

Step 2.

Take a portion of hair from the section you're working on and add your desired hair product (I styled my hair with Taliah Waajid's Curly Curl "Gello" and Protective Mist Bodifier).

Wrapped your hair tightly around your finger in a circular motion.

Pinch your hair halfway down to hold the coil and repeat step 3. If you have short hair skip this step and go to step 5.

Seal your ends! I personally added Spectrum Organic Virgin Unrefined Coconut Oil.

5 Reasons Water Benefits Healthy Hair

If you are new or have been natural for some time now you may or may not know that water is your best friend. Water is essential to everyday life and it is needed to maintain healthy hair. We all know that water is vital to our organs, it helps plants and food grow and it also helps your hair grow. Here are 5 reasons water benefits healthy hair:

1.     Water hydrates your hair by daily adding water or a water based hair product i.e: leave-in conditioner to your hair, it will help prevent dry brittle hair which leads to breakage.

2.     Water helps your body flush out toxins. Drinking a gallon of water a day you will begin to see an improvement in: hair growth, changes in your body i.e.: (clearer skin, and nail growth), and you'll be more energized.

3.     Water regulates your cardiovascular system also called circulatory system. Your circulatory system transports water, blood, and nutrients to your blood cells and also carries away the waste that your body produces.

4.     If you are neglecting your water intake it could potentially lead to hair thinning, shedding, and hair breakage.

5.     Washing your hair with warm water helps remove buildup and dirt; while cold water closes your hair follicles so your hair shaft can remain strong.  I personally see benefits in washing my hair with warm water and I rinse the conditioner out with cold water.

I could go on and on about the benefits of water but I will leave you with these five tips. Make sure you drink enough water today! Your body will thank you later!
